3TC - Basic Information

 

Indication of 3TC:

3TC (Lamivudine) is used by some patients that are diagnosed with HIV Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.

Action of 3TC:

3TC contains Lamivudine which slows down the development of HIV infection by inhibiting virus reproduction.It does not cure or reduce transmission to an uninfected person.

Dose Advice of 3TC:

3TC is only available via prescription from your doctor. It is available in tablet form and oral liquid form.The dose may vary depending on what the doctor prescribes for you.The medicine may cause lactic acid to build up in your system, if you get any nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fatigue and weakness, contact your doctor immediately.

Common side effects of 3TC:

All medicines have side effects. Some side effects can be serious, but the most common ones are mild. Common side effects occurring in more than 1% of patients prescribed 3TC include: HeadacheDiarrhoeaFatigueRashFever Consult your doctor if you experience one of the above symptoms and it is worrisome.

Uncommon side effects of 3TC:

These are side effects that occur in less than 1% of patients and are uncommon. Do not be alarmed by this list, they are uncommon side effects and a patient will not necessarily experience any of these: Severe muscle painConsult your doctor if you experience any of the above symptoms.
