Indication of Actacode:

Used for symptom relief in non-productive cough Not to be used in asthma, COPD or respiratory failure

Action of Actacode:

Acts by suppressing the cough center in the brain

Dose Advice of Actacode:

Adult: 15-30mg 3-4 times daily Child: 2-5 years: 3mg, 3-4 times daily >5 years: 7.5-15mg, 3-4 times daily Not to be used in children < 2years Pregnancy: Safe to use. ADEC category A Lactation: No data available but should be safe to use

Common side effects of Actacode:

Drowsiness Constipation Nausea Vomiting Drug Interactions: Alcohol- increased drowsiness; avoid combined use CNS depressants- increased respiratory depression; avoid concurrent use
