Indication of Actiq:
Actiq are fentanyl lozenges that may be used for breakthrough pain in cancer patients who are already stabilised on an opioid medication.Dose Advice of Actiq:
The initial dose is 200 micrograms and this may be repeated in 30 minutes if required If pain relief is still inadequate after using this dose several times the dose should be increased until effective analgesia is achieved If more than 4 breakthrough doses are required per day the regular opioid medication dose needs to be adjustedCommon side effects of Actiq:
- Rash.- Fentanyl may produce less nausea, vomiting and constipation than other opioid medications.- Plus opioid effects.Uncommon side effects of Actiq:
