Biaxsig - Basic Information


Indication of Biaxsig:

Adults: Used for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by or likely to be caused by pathogens susceptible to RoxithyromycinUpper respiratory tract infections: acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis.Lower respiratory tract infections: acute bronchitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, community acquired pneumoniaSkin and connective tissue infectionsNon-gonococcal urethritis.ChildrenUsed for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by or likely to be caused by pathogens susceptible to Roxithromycin. (e.g. Acute pharyngitis, acute tonsillitis, impetigo)

Action of Biaxsig:

Roxithromycin is a semisynthetic macrolide antibiotic. It has a half life of 12 hours in healthy adults, 27 hours in elderly patients and 20 hours in children. Its breakdown is slowed by poor kidney and liver function. It is eliminated in the body from the faeces, urine and from the lungs

Dose Advice of Biaxsig:

Adults: Most indications: Rulide 300 mg tablets: one tablet daily, ORRulide 150 mg tablets: one tablet twice daily, or two tablets once dailyAtypical pneumonia: Roulide 150 mg: one tablet twice daily.Children: Recommended routine: 5-8 mg/kg/day, administered twice daily as divided doses.6-11 kg: Half a Rulide D 50 mg tablet, twice daily12-23 kg: One Rulide D 50 mg tablet, twice daily.24-40 kg: Two Rulide D 50 mg tablets, twice daily.
