Campral - Basic Information

 

Indication of Campral:

Acamprosate calcium is used in the maintenance of abstinence in alcohol dependence.

Action of Campral:

Chemical structure is similar to that of gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) and taurine. Mechanism of action is unclear- it possibly involves the restoration of normal activity in glutamate and GABA-ergic systems.

Dose Advice of Campral:

Adults > 60kg: 50mg once daily.Adults < 60kg: 2 tablets in the morning, 1 tablet at midday, and 1 tablet at night.
