Indication of Catapres 100:
Catapres 100 is used in the management of high blood pressure (hypertension).This drug is also used in the management and prevention of recurrent migraines or vascular related headaches.It can also be used for managing the symptoms associated with menopausal flushing.Action of Catapres 100:
Catapres 100 is a blood pressure lowering agent that acts on centres in the brain to decrease pressure in blood vessels and reduce heart rate.It also modifies the responses of blood vessels to agents that may alter blood pressure, which helps to reduce blood pressure, to aid in the treatment of migraines and menopausal flushing.Dose Advice of Catapres 100:
Antihypertensive (blood pressure lowering): Initially 50-100 microgram 2-3 times a day is given. This is then adjusted according to the patients individual blood pressure response. If adequate response has not been achieved with a total daily dose of 600 microgram Catapres 100, alternative or additional therapies should be considered Migraine prophylaxis (prevention): Initial dose is 25 microgram once in the morning and evening. This may be increased two weeks later to 50 microgram twice daily, then to a total daily dose of 150microgram if necessary. Duration of treatment is dependent on frequency and severity of the migraine attacks.Menopausal flushing: Initial dose of Catapres 100 is 25 microgram twice daily. This can be increased to a total daily dose of 150 microgram. Duration of treatment in this scenario is also dependent on the frequency and severity of the symptoms.Schedule of Catapres 100:
