Indication of Fasturtec:
Fasturtec is used in the prevention and treatment of acutely raised uric acid levels that occur when large number of cancer cells are killed and release their cellular contents (tumour lysis syndrome).
Action of Fasturtec:
When chemotherapy kills large numbers of tumour cells, uric acid is released and builds up in the blood. This can lead to renal damage and even renal failure. Fasturtec is an enzyme, which converts uric acid into more easily excreted metabolites. This decreases the risk of renal damage.

Recommended dose: 0.20mg/kg/dayadminister as 30 minute infusion in 50ml sodium chloride 0.9%treat for 5-7 daysadminister through a separate intravenous line to chemotherapy agentsdiscard any residuechemotherapy should be administered as normal, no change to the regimen is necessary.
