Femtran - Basic Information

Indication of Femtran:

Femtran is used as a hormone replacement for those people who are low in oestrogen.

Action of Femtran:

Femtran releases oestrogen into the body, alleviating symptoms that are due to a lack of oestrogen (eg. because of menopause).

Dose Advice of Femtran:

The dose of Femtran that you may use is dependent on your clinical response to Femtran. Initially, you may be started on the Femtran 50, but your dose may be increased or decreased depending on its effect on you as an individual. If you still have an intact uterus, the doctor may also require you to take some progestogen tablets every 10-14 days in a month. This is to balance the growth of the tissue in your uterus. To apply a patch, remove the protective layer and place it on a clean, dry and non-hairy area of skin on the buttock or lower trunk area. Press down on the patch firmly for 10 seconds to ensure adhesion. The patch is to be changed once a week and the application sites should be rotated You should be able to shower with the patch without it falling off. However, if it does fall off you may be required to apply a new patch for the remaining 7 days. Femtran is not recommended if you are pregnant (Pregnancy Category B1) or breastfeeding.
