Ferro-Gradumet - Basic Information

 

Indication of Ferro-Gradumet:

Treatment and prevention of iron deficiency and iron deficiency anaemia. May be useful for patients who are unable to tolerate some other iron medications.

Action of Ferro-Gradumet:

Ferro-gradumet provides the iron needed to produce haemoglobin and iron-containing enzymes, and replaces the body’s iron stores. Controlled release of the majority of the iron content in the small intestine reduces rritation of the stomach and intestines.

Dose Advice of Ferro-Gradumet:

Ferro-gradumet should ideally be taken on an empty stomach and the tablets should be swallowed whole. Gastric intolerance is rare, but Ferro-gradumet may be taken after a meal if it does occur. The recommended dose is one tablet (105mg elemental iron as 325mg ferrous sulfate) daily. In the case of iron deficiency anaemia, the organs in the body that store iron should be allowed to build up their iron stores before therapy with Ferro-gradumet is ceased

Side effects are not common with use of Ferro-gradumet.

Uncommon side-effects of Ferro-gradumet include: Nausea and vomitingAbdominal pain or discomfortBlack stoolsDiarrhoeaConstipationGastric intolerance (Gastric intolerance is very rare. If it does occur, Ferro-gradumet may be taken after a meal instead of on an empty stomach)
