Inspra - Basic Information

 

Indication of Inspra:

Treatment of high blood pressure.Reduces the risk of congestive heart failure if used 3-14 days after a heart attack.

Action of Inspra:

Eprelenone is an inhibitor of the mineralocorticoid receptor, this is the receptor in the body responsible for the action of aldosterone, a steroid hormone. Aldosterone increases blood pressure mainly by retaining sodium and water, therefore inhibition of the receptor where this hormone works reduces blood pressure.

Dose Advice of Inspra:

Hypertension 50mg once daily, if patient doesnt respond use 50mg twice daily.Congestive Heart Failure 25mg daily increasing to 50mg within 4 weeks.

Schedule of Inspra:

S4 - prescription only.
