Kinidin Durules - Basic Information

 

Indication of Kinidin Durules:

Quinidine has potentially serious side effects and should only be used for abnormal heart rhythms where the benefit outweighs the risk. Quinidine is used in: Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia.Following cardioversion from atrial fibrillation or flutter.Life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias.

Action of Kinidin Durules:

Quinidine acts on the cells in the heart responsible for conducting the abnormal heart rhythms. It causes them to become less excitable, i.e. they are less likely to react to abnormal heart rhythms and conduct them.

Dose Advice of Kinidin Durules:

Adults: The usual dose is 2 to 5 tablets morning and evening. Following conversion of atrial fibrillation the normal dose is 3 tablets morning and evening.Children: The normal childrens dose is 30 mg/kg every 24 hours or 900 mg per square metre of body surface area every 24 hours.
