Indication of Lescol:
Lescol is used to the amount of cholesterol produced by the body. This may be helpful in preventing further heart problems.Cholesterol has many useful functions in the body such as the formation of new cells and forming components of bile. However in large amounts, cholesterol can cause heart disease.
Action of Lescol:
Lescol contains fluvastatin as the active ingredient.Fluvastatin reduces the amount of cholesterol produced by the body.
Dose Advice of Lescol:
Lescol is only available via prescription from the doctor.Your doctor will prescribe the most suitable dose for you.Take the dose at the same time each day to obtain the best effect and as it also helps you remember better.The best time to take the dose is in the evening or at bedtime as it may work better.Lescol does not affect the cholesterol that is present in the food you eat, hence it is important that you control your weight, with a low fat diet and frequent exercise.Even though it is rare, if you develop any muscle pain to tenderness while taking Lescol, tell you doctor immediately.Pregnancy Category D: It is important you notify your doctor if you are planning to become or currently are pregnant or breastfeeding as the use of lescol is not recommended during this period.It is also important you notify your doctor if you any liver condition, illness or trauma as your doctor may need to examine the risks and benefits of using this medication for you.

Common side effects of Lescol:
All medicines have side effects. Some side effects can be serious, but the most common ones are mild. Common side effects occurring in more than 1% of patients prescribed Lescol include: NauseaUpset stomach HeartburnHeadacheDiarrhoeaBurning/ prickling sensation Numbing or tingling feeling in your hands or feetConsult your doctor if you experience any side effects.
Uncommon side effects of Lescol:
These are some side effects that occur in less than 1% of patients and are uncommon. Do not be alarmed by this list, they are uncommon side effects and a patient will not necessarily experience any of these: Muscle Pain, tenderness or weakness which may also be accompanied with fever and a feeling of tiredness.Liver problems: yellowing of skin (jaundice), dark urineSigns of allergy: shortness of breath, rashes, itching, swelling, bleeding Consult your doctor if you experience any of the above symptoms or any other unusual or abnormal symptoms.
