Indication of Nardil:
Major depression (second line)Some anxiety disorders including phobic disorders and panic disorder (second line)Action of Nardil:
Irreversible, non-selective inhibition of the enzymes, monoamine oxidase-A and monoamine oxidase-B. This action leads to elevation of synaptic concentrations of adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine and serotonin in the brain and other tissues. The duration of action is 2-3 weeks while new enzymes form.Dose Advice of Nardil:
45-90mg daily in 2 or 3 divided doses. Reduce to lowest effective dose for maintenance once a response is obtained Maximum 90mg daily.Schedule of Nardil:
