Indication of Neurontin:
Gapapentin is used for the treatment of: Partial epileptic seizures which cannot be controlled with other antiepileptic drugs.Certain types of pain.Action of Neurontin:
The mechanisms of Gapapentin is unknown.Dose Advice of Neurontin:
Adults: Partial seizures: The initial recommended dose is 300 mg taken at bedtime.This dose may then be increased by 300 mg a day up to 900-1800 mg daily given in 3 divided doses. In some patients up to 3600 mg a day may be required for seizure control.Neuropathic pain: The initial recommended dose is 900 mg a day given in 3 divided doses.The maximum recommended daily dose is 3600 mg. Children aged 3-12 years: The initial recommended dose is 10 mg/kg a day. This dose may then be increased by 10 mg/kg a day up to 25-35 mg/kg daily given in 3 divided doses.In some children up to up to 60 mg/kg may be required for seizure control.Kidney function impairment: Doses of Gabapentin should be adjusted according to the patients degree of kidney function impairment.Schedule of Neurontin:
