Orudis - Basic Information

 

Indication of Orudis:

Ketoprofen is used in the symptomatic treatment of: -Rheumatoid arthritis.-Osteoarthritis.-Superficial sporting injuries.

Action of Orudis:

Ketoprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). NSAIDs relieve pain and inflammation by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, which have an important involvement in the production of inflammation, pain and fever in the body.

Dose Advice of Orudis:

Rheumatoid arthritis and Osteoarthritis: 100?200 mg orally once daily.Alternatively a 100mg suppository can be given at bedtime.Superficial sporting injuries: Apply topical Ketoprofen to the affected area 2-4 times a day.

Common side effects of Orudis:

- Nausea.- Heartburn.- Stomach ulcers.- Diarrhoea.- Headache.- Dizziness.- Salt and fluid retention.- High blood pressure.- Constipation.- Flatulence.- Loss of appetite.- Stomach cramps.

Uncommon side effects of Orudis:

- High potassium levels.- Kidney function impairment.- Confusion.- Asthma.- Rash.- Ulceration of the oesophagus.- Heart failure.
