Panamax - Basic Information

 

Indication of Panamax:

Relieves pain and fever. E.g. Headache, period pain, arthritis, muscle pain, toothaches.

Action of Panamax:

Parecetamol treats pain and fever via uncertain mechanisms. It is not an anti inflammatory.

Dose Advice of Panamax:

Available as tablets or syrupTablets: - Adults (>12 years): 1-2 tablets every 3-4 hours. Max. 8 per day. - Children (7-12 years): 1 tablet every 3-4 hours. Max. 4 per daySyrup: - Children: - 1-3 months (4-6 kg): 2-4 mL every 3-4 hours.- 3-6 months (6-8 kg): 4-5 mL every 3-4 hours.- 6-12 months (8-10 kg): 5-6 mL every 3-4 hours.- 1-2 years (10-12 kg): 6-8 mL every 3-4 hours.- 2-4 years (12-16 kg): 8-10 mL every 3-4 hours.- 4-6 years (16-20 kg): 10-13 mL every 3-4 hours.- 6-8 years (20-25 kg): 13-16 mL every 3-4 hours.- 8-10 years (25-32 kg): 16-20 mL every 3-4 hours.- 10-12 years (32-41 kg): 20-26 mL every 3-4 hours.- Avoid if experienced allergic reactions in past to parecetemol.- Not for infants less than 1 month.- Seek appropriate medical advice if uncertain.

Common side effects of Panamax:

- None- Overdose symptoms are important as excess parecetamol can cause liver damage and be potentially fatal. Symptoms develop within the first two days and include vomiting, abdominal pain, low blood pressure and sweating.-In cases of overdosage, immediately telephone the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 or seek appropriate medical help

Uncommon side effects of Panamax:

Possible allergic reactions and nausea. Seek medical advice immediately if any of the above are suspected
