Indication of Septopal:
Septopal is a medication used to treat chronic recurrent osteomyelitis. It is also used for treatment of infections in soft parts or for prevention of infection in open, potentially infected injuries to bones and soft parts.
Action of Septopal:
Gentamicin is an active ingredient presents in the Septopal beads. It belongs to a group of antibiotic called aminoglycosides which works by interrupting the production of bacterial protein in a wide variety of bacteria. The Septopal beads release gentamicin over a prolonged period of time.
Dose Advice of Septopal:
Contraindications: You should not use Septopal if youare allergic to active ingredient of Septopal, gentamicn or any of the constituents of Septopal chainshave bone infections from which non viable bone cannot be or has not been completely removedhave known nickel allergyPrecautions: You should tell your doctor if you have poor kidney functionare pregnantare breastfeedingare are taking any other medicines that you buy without a prescription from your pharmacy, health food stores or supermarkets.Use in pregnancy (Category D): Safety for use of Septopal chains in pregnancy has not been established Your doctor will discuss with you the potential risks of Septopal to your baby.Lactation: Safety has not been established regarding use of Septopal in breastfeeding mothers.
