Teveten - Basic Information

Indication of Teveten:

This drug is used for the treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure).

Action of Teveten:

Eprosartan is a non-biphenyl nontetrazole angiotensin II receptor (AT1 subtype) antagonist. It blocks the vasoconstricting and aldosterone secreting effects of angiotensin II by antagonizing the angiotensin II (AT1 subtype) receptor: this renin angiotensin system is involved in the pathophysiology of hypertension (high blood pressure).Eprosartan inhibits the vasoconstrictive (blood vessel constriction) effects of angiotensin II which leads to a reduction in systemic vascular resistance (thus lowering blood pressure).
