Zerit - Basic Information

 

Indication of Zerit:

Zerit is used for HIV infections in adults and children together with other HIV treatment agents.

Action of Zerit:

Zerit works by preventing HIV replication.

Dose Advice of Zerit:

Zerit may be taken with food or on an empty stomach. Adults greater or equal to 60kg: 40mg every 12 hours; less than 60kg: 30mg every 12 hours. Children less than 30kg: 1mg/kg every 12 hours; Children > 30kg: 30mg every 12 hours. Reconstituted dose should be kept in the fridge (between 2-8 degrees Centigrade) up to 30 days. Contents should be discarded after 30 days.

Common side effects of Zerit:

abdominal pain (34%) chills/ fever (54%) headache (50%) pain (21%) malaise (20%) dyspnoea (15%) diarrhoea (50%) nausea and vomiting (38%) anorexia (19%) rash (40%)

Uncommon side effects of Zerit:

Numbness and tingling sensation in hands and feet (14%) Pancreatitis (2%) Worsening of liver function (13%)
