Zomig - Basic Information

 

Indication of Zomig:

Zolmitriptan is used to relieve the symptoms of migraine.

Action of Zomig:

Zolmitriptan causes constriction of blood vessels in the brain to relieve the symptoms of migraine.

Dose Advice of Zomig:

25 mg of Zolmitriptan should be given as soon as possible after the onset of the migraine. A further 25mg may be given after a minimum of 2 hours if the migraine recurs. An initial dose of 5 mg may be given at onset if 25mg has been ineffective in previous attacks. The maximum recommended daily dose is 10 mg. In patients with severe hepatic impairment the maximum recommended daily dose is 5 mg.

Tingling sensation Heat Heaviness or tightness in the chest and throat Flushing Dizziness Weakness Fatigue Nausea and Vomiting Dry mouth Increase in blood pressure for a short period of time
